SASEBO, Japan (April 11, 2025) Electrician’s Mate 2nd Class Sarah Svejkovsky from Jacksonville, Florida, assigned to the forward-deployed USS New Orleans (LPD 18) receives USS New Orleans (LPD 18) Sailor of the Year award during a ceremony at Commander Fleet Activities Sasebo, April 11. The Navy’s Sailor of the Year program recognizes outstanding Sailors who best represent the ideals of the professional Sailor and the Navy. USS New Orleans (LPD 18), is a San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility, as part of the America Amphibious Ready Group. U.S. 7th Fleet is the U.S. Navy’s largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
