U.S. Marine Corps Col. Thomas N. Trimble, right, Commanding Officer, 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit greets Brigadier General Samuel L. Meyer, left, Commanding General, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade aboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7), Iwo Jima Amphibious Readiness Group (ARG). Brig. Gen. Meyer conducted a visit to the Iwo Jima, concurrent to a Staff Delegation visit, during Amphibious Squadron 8 (PHIBRON 8), 22nd MEU Integration (PMINT) exercise while underway in the Atlantic Ocean, April 4, 2025. The purpose of the delegation's visit was to foster dialogue with Navy and Marine Corps personnel at all levels, thereby deepening their understanding of the ARG/MEU's capacity to execute diverse mission sets, such as campaigning, crisis response, conflict, and deterrence.
