YOKOSUKA, Japan (March 28, 2025) – On behalf of Adm. Akira Saito, chief of staff, Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF), Vice Adm. Nobuyuki Takenaka, commander, Fleet Submarine Force, JMSDF, presents a 1st Grade Defense Cooperation Medal to Rear Adm. Chris Cavanaugh, outgoing commander, Submarine Group 7, a change of command ceremony at Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka, March 28, 2025. During the ceremony, Cavanaugh was relieved by Rear Adm. Lincoln Reifsteck as Commander, Submarine Group 7. Submarine Group 7 directs forward-deployed, combat capable forces across the full spectrum of undersea warfare throughout the Western Pacific, Indian Ocean, and Arabian Sea.
