Maj. Joseph Lucas (left) and Maj. Dustin Freeman (far right), both assigned to the U.S. Army’s Program Executive Office Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (PEO STRI) in Orlando, Florida, assisted with the unveiling ceremony on March 29 for plaques honoring Medal of Honor recipients Sgt.1st Class Alwyn C. Cashe and Staff Sgt. Robert J. Miller outside the Seminole County Courthouse in Sanford, Florida. The ceremony was led by 17-year-old William Watts of Longwood, Florida, who while working on his Eagle Scout project gathered the support of Soldiers and Army civilians from PEO STRI, county government officials, and members of the local community to recognize the two heroes. Both Cashe and Miller have family ties to Seminole County and are buried in local cemeteries. Family members of both men also attended the unveiling ceremony. (U.S. Army photo by Donnie Ryan)
