NORFOLK, Va. (March 21, 2025) Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Rudy Flores, assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1), center, leads a ship familiarization tour for Sailors assigned to Navy Medicine Training Support Command Detachment Portsmouth through the ship’s medical facilities, March 21, 2025. Currently in port Naval Station Norfolk, Wasp is a role 1 medical care facility equipped with four surgical and four dental operating rooms, 38 inpatient ward beds, multiple medical and dental x-ray rooms and is staffed by a team of 22 officers and hospital corpsmen, capable up to role 2 care when supplemented by a fleet surgical team.
