NORFOLK, Va. (March 21, 2025) Chief Hospital Corpsman Arland Yancey guides a ship familiarization tour for sailors assigned to Navy Medicine Training Support Command Detachment Portsmouth in the upper vehicle stowage area aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1), March 21, 2025. Currently in port Naval Station Norfolk, Wasp is a role 1 medical care facility equipped with four surgical and four dental operating rooms, 38 inpatient ward beds, multiple medical and dental x-ray rooms and is staffed by a team of 22 officers and hospital corpsmen, capable up to role 2 care when supplemented by a fleet surgical team.
