Hammer, Geospatial Information Systems Specialist at Piney Woods Regional Project, was presented with a Purple Heart December 17, for wounds received in action on Aug. 19, 2011 while serving as a U.S. Marine in Afghanistan. The ceremony was held at the Marine Corps League Building in Longview, Texas, and was attended by his wife Katie and family, friends, and coworkers from Lake O' The Pines and Piney Woods Regional Project.
