Workers collect groundwater samples from one of 33 monitoring wells spread across the study area to determine the concentration of trichloroethene, or TCE, in the groundwater near the former Beale Air Force Base Titan 1-A missile complex in Lincoln, California. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will use the data to help identify methods for cleaning up the contamination through its Formerly Used Defense Sites program.
