U.S. Marines with Force Reconnaissance Platoon, Maritime Raid Force, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, fast-rope off an UH-1Y Venom assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265 (Rein.) during a nighttime fast-rope exercise on LZ Swallow at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Dec. 4, 2024. The Marines conducted nighttime fast-rope training to enhance their ability to quickly insert into a landing zone in a low lighting scenario. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premiere crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
