NAVAL BASE KITSAP – BANGOR, Wash. (Nov. 6, 2024) Vice Adm. Robert Gaucher, commander, Naval Submarine Forces, addresses outgoing Submarine Group (SUBGRU) 9 Commander Rear Adm. Nicholas Tilbrook in a recorded video message during an assumption of command ceremony at Naval Base Kitsap – Bangor, Nov. 6, 2024. During the ceremony, Rear Adm. Thomas Wall assumed the duties and responsibilities as SUBGRU-9 commander. SUBGRU-9 exercises administrative control authority for assigned submarine commands and units in the Pacific Northwest providing oversight for shipboard training, personnel, supply and material readiness of SSBNs and their crews. SUBGRU-9 is also responsible for nuclear powered submarines undergoing conversion or overhaul at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton.
