U.S. service members attach a simulated patient to a litter during a bilateral Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear exercise during Keen Sword 25 in Okinawa, Japan, Oct. 29, 2024. CBRN response and medical teams from all participating forces were combined to enhance the group’s ability to assess the safety of the situation and administer care to the simulated patients. Keen Sword is a biennial, joint and bilateral field-training exercise involving U.S. military and Japan Self-Defense Force personnel, designed to increase readiness and interoperability while strengthening the ironclad U.S.-Japan alliance.
