Chief Warrant Officer Nester Contrerasmendoza, the readiness control officer assigned to the Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Savannah (LCS 28) embarked aboard the Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Kansas City (LCS 22), ensures proper procedural compliance is followed while starting the number two main propulsion diesel engine, Sept. 21, 2024. Kansas City is underway in the U.S. 3rd Fleet area of operations conducting SWATT.
