In January and February 2024, The University of Illinois at Chicago’s Center for the Recovery and Identification of the Missing (UIC-CRIM), partner of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA), surveyed in the Republic of the Philippines for possible World War II era crash sites in an effort to recover service members still missing from the conflict. In the photo, investigations of possible aircraft crash sites often include interviews with village elders who may have helpful information. Here, team members from University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) discuss possible sites in the Republic of the Philippines.
