Members of the Gossens family unveil a plaque memorializing the "Rum Runners" B-24 Liberator during the a ceremony as a part of the 80th anniversary of Operation Market Garden at Goch, Germany, Sep. 18, 2024. On Sep. 18, 1944, an American bomber type B-24 Liberator with the name "Rum Runner" crashed into the family Gossens' farmhouse. The ceremony was to unveil a new plaque memorializing the crew members of the B-24H Liberator “Rum Runner” who were killed in action when their plane was shot down by German anti-aircraft fire over Goch while delivering supplies to the 82nd Airborne Division.
