U.S. Marine Corps Col. Daniel T. Celotto, the commanding officer of Headquarters & Service Battalion, Fleet Marine Force, Atlantic, Marine Forces Command, Marine Forces North, salutes the colors during a change of command ceremony aboard Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7), Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia, Aug. 6, 2024. The change of command ceremony is a military tradition that signifies all responsibilities and authorities being transferred from one commander to another. The new commanding general will proceed to execute the mission of FMFLANT, MARFORCOM and MARFORNORTH in provisioning joint-capable Marine Corps forces, direct deployment planning and execution of service-retained operating forces in support of the combatant commander.
