Rosado, a military police noncommissioned officer and Installation Management Command, Europe’s “Best Warrior,” and Valerie Matsunaga, a family member of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, lay a pillow of flowers at the monument of Pvt. Masato Nakae a NISEI hero, during the ceremony to honor the sacrifice of the 442nd Combat Regiment, composed almost entirely of second-generation American soldiers of Japanese descent, also known as the NISEI Battalion. The event takes place in front of the monument of Pvt. Masato Nakae. He was awarded the Medal of Honor and the Purple Heart for his heroism on August 19, 1944, near Pisa, Italy.
