Aviation Warfare Systems Operator 2nd Class Joseph Poswilko grasps Aviation Warfare Systems Operator 3rd Class John McCracken as they are hoisted into an MH-60S Knighthawk at the conclusion of search and rescue swimmer training evolutions in the Persian Gulf. Both personnel are assigned to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 21, the "Blackjacks," which is deployed aboard amphibious assault ship USS Tarawa. The USS Tarawa Expeditionary Strike Group is conducting exercises in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations. Maritime Security Operations help set the conditions for security in the maritime environment. From security, arises stability that results in global economic prosperity. MSO complements the counterterrorism and security efforts of regional nations and seek to disrupt use of the maritime environment by violent extremists as a venue for attack or to transport personnel, weapons or other material.
