Aviation Warfare Systems Operator 3rd Class Deric Parsoneault jumps out of an MH-60S Knighthawk assigned to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 21, the "Blackjacks," during search and rescue swimmer training evolutions in the Persian Gulf. HSC-21 is deployed aboard amphibious assault ship USS Tarawa and conducting exercises in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations. Maritime Security Operations help set the conditions for security in the maritime environment. From security, arises stability that results in global economic prosperity. MSO complements the counterterrorism and security efforts of regional nations and seek to disrupt use of the maritime environment by violent extremists as a venue for attack or to transport personnel, weapons or other material.
