Soldiers from 777th Aviation Support Battalion get dirty while practicing their vehicle recovery skills at Camp Robinson, Ark., on June 11, 2024. Vehicle Recovery isn’t as simple as it seems, especially when the vehicle is turned on its side, flipped upside down, or in this case, intentionally buried in the mud pit. Mechanics are required to wade in about 3 feet of muddy water to attach a heavy-duty winch cable to the HMMWV before pulling it back to dry land. The training is conducted in a simulated tactical environment with medics and troops pulling security. Once the vehicle is back on land, they load up and continue the convoy where they begin to treat a simulated casualty and prepare a HMMWV to be towed.
