240509-N-MY408-1322 (May 9, 2024) TAKORADI, Ghana – Liberia National Coast Guard Machinery Technician Seaman Apprentice Erica Davis poses for a photo at Ghana Western Naval Headquarters during Obangame Express 2024. In addition to her rate-associated job, Davis regularly conducts the visit, board, search, and seizure (VBSS) mission, which requires knowledge of tactical combat casualty care, tactical movements, maritime detention, and maritime crime scene investigation techniques taught at Obangame Express 2024.
“In the battlefield or in a combat situation, you have to have knowledge of those things to protect you and your team,” said Davis.
During Exercise Obangame Express 2024, the 13th rendition of the exercise, partner and allied forces collaborate to enhance collective maritime law enforcement capabilities, bolster national and regional security in West Africa, and foster greater interoperability among U.S., African, and multinational partners.
