U.S. Army Cadet Courtney Owens, 1221st Engineer Clearance Company, 117th Engineer Brigade, South Carolina National Guard, received recognition during a commissioning ceremony held at the University of South Carolina - Aiken, Aiken, South Carolina, May 1, 2024. Cadet Owens holds the distinction of being the third Cadet to commission from the program since its reinstatement three years ago, following an absence of approximately 20 years. Notably, he is also the second National Guard Soldier to commission from USC Aiken in over two decades. Cadet Owens played a pivotal role in revitalizing the ROTC program and his departure will be deeply felt, as his contributions were immensely valued and appreciated.
