U.S. Air Force Maj. Richard Loesch, 12th Flying Training Wing instructor pilot, performs the last pre-flight safety check of the T-1 Jayhawk, memorializing the late Maj. Jeff Ausborn, prior to the aircraft’s departure to its final resting place at the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base boneyard, Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas, April 25, 2024. Ausborn was deployed from JBSA-Randolph and killed April 27, 2011, in Kabul, Afghanistan, when a shooter opened fire at the Kabul International Airport, killing eight Airmen and one American contractor.
