U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. James Sears, Air Education and Training Command deputy commander, gives opening remarks at the start of U.S. Air Force Day at the Alamo, hosted by AETC at Alamo Plaza in San Antonio, Texas, April 22, 2024. The event featured displays and exhibits, along with demonstrations and performances by members of AETC units stationed across Joint Base San Antonio. Events like these provide a chance for visitors to view demonstrations for Air Force specialties and speak with Airmen. Fiesta San Antonio started in 1891 as a one-parade event to honor the memory of the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto. Today it’s a 10-day celebration featuring more than 100 events that feature music, food, sports, pageantry, military and patriotic observances, exhibits and parades.
