Maj. Gen. Jim Sears, deputy commander for Air Education and Training Command, provides remarks for the Air Force Day at the Alamo in downtown San Antonio April 22, 2024. Each year AETC hosts the event and showcases a few of the Air Force specialties across Joint Base San Antonio. The mission for AETC is to find, recruit and train Airmen and Guardians. Events like these provide a chance for visitors to view demonstrations for Air Force specialties and speak with Airmen. Fiesta San Antonio started in 1891 as a one-parade event to honor the memory of the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto. Today it’s a 10-day celebration featuring more than 100 events that feature music, food, sports, pageantry, military and patriotic observances, exhibits and parades.
