U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to the 3rd Division Sustainment Brigade and the 1st Cavalry Division Sustainment Brigade render honors to the national colors during a transfer of authority ceremony at Forward Operating Site Powidz, Poland, April 19, 2024. Both brigades deployed as part of a rotation of forces to the V Corps’ area of operations in Eastern Europe to lead a multi-composition array of sustainment units conducting operations and training alongside allies and partners to bolster security and deter adversaries in the region. Col. Jennifer McDonough and Command Sgt. Maj. Jeffrey Campbell, the command team of the 3rd DSB, cased the unit colors, symbolizing the completion of their mission and marking the final event before redeployment to Fort Stewart, Georgia. Col. Christopher Jones and Command Sgt. Maj. Tamara Williams, the command team of the 1st CDSB, unfurled their brigade colors, demonstrating their assumption of responsibility for the mission to set the V Corps area of operations for sustainment.
