U.S. Army Spc. Ernesto Morales, a cannon crewmember assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Artillery Regiment, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, conducts maintenance checking for deficiencies on a Howitzer during a stress event as part of the Division Artillery Best Redleg Competition at Fort Bliss, Texas, , April 2, 2024. The event is a rigorous, six-day competition held at Fort Bliss that tests a Soldier's physical strength as well as mental flexibility. Every competitor's performance is assessed, and the winners will go to represent the 1st Armored Division to compete at the inaugural General Raymond T. Odierno Best Redleg Competition, happening at Fort Sill, Okla., the ancestral home of Field Artillery in May 2024.
