Col. Jeffrey Palazzini, commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - Alaska District, joined Bil Homka, city manager of Unalaska, in signing the partnership agreement for the Dutch Harbor Navigation Improvements project on Mar. 29, 2024.
This important dredging operation will provide a 600-by-600 foot channel at a depth of 58 feet in Dutch Harbor, providing vessels with improved navigation safety and efficiency.
"This will be a vital upgrade to an important facility that serves our nation," Palazzini said. "We look forward to this collaborative effort with the City of Unalaska to improve safety for mariners and strengthen the supply chain of the North Pacific and Bering Sea."
