JACKSONVILLE, FL.- (February 15,2024) Lt. Levi Sheckley, a certified registered nurse at Naval Hospital Jacksonville emergency department, trains others on the use of a medical device. Sheckley holds a Bachelor of Science in nursing from College of the Ozarks. A native of Chesapeake Bay, Virginia, says, “The Lucas device allows for consistent rate and depth of chest compressions for critical patients requiring cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). This allows our emergency medicine team to provide advanced life support in a more controlled environment and liberates a provider from having to perform manual CPR. The Lucas performs CPR safely while transporting and moving patients and is primarily utilized by our Emergency Services paramedics and EMTS.” Certified Nurses Day is March 19, honoring nurses who contribute to patient outcomes through national board certification in their specialty.
