Members of the District of Columbia National Guard joined members of the Burkina Faso Armed Forces during a State Partnership Program (SPP) visit to Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, Feb. 26-29, 2024. During the Emergency Operations Center Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE) the delegation shared best practices on exercise generation and conducted a preliminary pre-exercise planning engagement to address disaster assistance response. D.C. National Guard members also met with Colonel-Major David Kabre, Chief of Defense Cooperation. In 2019, Burkina Faso became the D.C. National Guard’s second state partnership. The relationship enhances readiness, interoperability and regional expertise, while supporting broader U.S. government objectives in Africa. (U.S. Air National Guard photo by Lt. Col. Serge Mettes)
