Dr. Kyle McCormick, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) scientific recovery expert (SRE), and Robert Godec, U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand, have their photo taken after excavating soil from a unit during a visit to a DPAA recovery mission in the Kingdom of Thailand, Feb. 15, 2024. Standard recovery missions last anywhere from 35-60 days, depending on the location and recovery methods used on site, with some sites being a few meters wide for individual burials, and others being hundreds of meters across for aircraft crashes.
