U.S. Marines with the maritime raid force, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, advance toward a drop zone during a reconnaissance and surveillance exercise at Kin Blue, Okinawa, Japan, Feb. 3, 2024. The exercise sustained the MRF’s proficiency in rapidly inserting and scouting for a landing force. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
