Thai and U.S service members play soccer Jan. 24 at Ban Kuad Nam Man School in the Chat Trakarn District, Phitsanulok province, Kingdom of Thailand. Evening soccer matches build cohesion and have become routine at the school where a new building is being constructed. Similar structures are being built at four other schools as part of ongoing engineering civic assistance projects part of Exercise Cobra Gold 2013. Exercise Cobra Gold includes humanitarian and civic assistance projects, a staff exercise and field training exercises. Joint and multinational training and activities such as this building project are vital to maintaining the readiness, relationships and interoperability of all participating military forces. The Thai soldiers are with the 302nd Engineer Battalion, Royal Thai Army. The U.S. Marines are with 9th Engineer Support Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
