U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Cody Kimbley, an aerial observer with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265 (Rein.), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, prepares to load Marines into a CH-53E Super Stallion before a helicopter raid exercise on the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) in the Philippine Sea, Feb. 2, 2024. The exercise simulated taking control of an enemy airfield and supporting further denial operations. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of USS America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
