Reggie Szatny and his wife Jessika are pictured on their wedding day. This is one of several pictures displayed on the Jumbotron at a Philadelphia Flyers hockey game on Nov. 1, 2023 while Szatny, who retired as an Army sergeant first class, was honored as a Hometown Hero.
He was surprised by the recognition – a result of Jessika’s nomination. “I started thinking about all the things that he has done – the awards he earned, everything in his career – and wanted to nominate him,” she said.
In response, Reggie surprised her by providing the Flyers with their wedding day picture featured before tens of thousands of hockey fans during the event.
He is currently a federal civilian employee, serving as the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency Eastern Regional Security Manager.
