U.S. Navy Sailors with 1st Medical Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, load simulated casualties onto an MV-22B Osprey with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 161, Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, during a mass casualty response training event as part of Exercise Steel Knight 23.2 at Inyokern Airfield, California, Dec. 3, 2023. U.S. Marines and Sailors with I Marine Expeditionary Force and Airmen with the the 920th Rescue Wing conducted mass casualty response training to rehearse concepts for treating and stabilizing casualties during extended transport to a higher echelon of care. Steel Knight 23.2 is a three-phase exercise designed to train I Marine Expeditionary Force in the planning, deployment and command and control of a joint force against a peer or near-peer adversary combat force and enhance existing live-fire and maneuver capabilities of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force.
