U.S. Marines with 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, observe an MV-22B Osprey aircraft with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 161, Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, taxi during a mass casualty response training event as part of Exercise Steel Knight 23.2 at Inyokern Airfield, California, Dec. 3, 2023. U.S. Marines and Sailors with I Marine Expeditionary Force and Airmen with the the 920th Rescue Wing conducted mass casualty response training to rehearse concepts for treating and stabilizing casualties during extended transport to a higher echelon of care. Steel Knight 23.2 is a three-phase exercise designed to train I MEF in the planning, deployment and command and control of a joint force against a peer or near-peer adversary combat force and enhance existing live-fire and maneuver capabilities of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force.
