U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Vanesa Zeka, a short term individual augmentee (STIA) medic with the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA), takes the blood pressure of a Lao citizen during a medical outreach event on a recovery mission in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), Nov. 8, 2023. U.S. military personnel provided a variety of medication to Lao citizens that varied based off of their medical needs. There are currently 277 recoverable missing personnel from the Vietnam War whose remains are believed to be in Lao PDR.
