A Lao citizen is treated by U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Vanesa Zeka, a short term individual augmentee (STIA) medic with the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA), during a DPAA recovery operation in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), Nov. 2, 2023. U.S. military personnel provided a variety of medication to Lao citizens that varied based off of their medical needs. There are currently 277 recoverable missing personnel from the Vietnam War whose remains are believed to be in Lao PDR.
