U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Thomas Pipenberg, 79th Fighter Generation Squadron flight-line expediter, fires his weapon at the Combat Arms Training and Maintenance range at Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., Nov. 8, 2023. Pipenberg was among the first Airmen at Shaw to utilize the 3-D printed M-4 Magazine Speed Loading Ram (MMSLR) to load magazines during proficiency firing. The two pieces of the MMSLR are able to be printed within seven hours, expediting the acquisition process, and load times during proficiency training. The Viper Innovation Cell brought the MMSLR to Shaw AFB as part of the Air Force’s initiative to expand technologies by encouraging innovation and problem solving to individual and group problems.
