U.S. Army Lt. Col. Michael Sarro assigned to United States Army Pacific (USARPAC) listens to a panel discussion over the impact of climate change in the Himalayan region during the expert academic discussion portion of the 2023 Nepal Disaster Response Exercise & Exchange (DREE) "Unity of Effort VI". The 2023 Nepal DREE scenario will focus on a major earthquake and multi-hazard event centered in the city of Kathmandu to test first responder’s capabilities, civil-military coordination, and the Government of Nepal’s ability to coordinate humanitarian assistance from a variety of institutions and countries. The DREE is composed of Expert Academic Discussions (EAD), a combined discussion-based Table-Top Exercises (TTX), a Field Technical Exercise (FTX), and multilateral demonstrations.
