President Joseph Biden awards the National Medal of Technology and Innovation to Dr. Rory Cooper at the White House in Washington, D.C., Oct. 24, 2023. Cooper, an Army veteran and Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army who holds more than 20 U.S. patents, was awarded the medal for developing innovations in wheelchair technology, helping to strengthen the nation’s well-being. Cooper has dedicated his career to helping veterans to lead full and rewarding lives through engineering and advancing assistive technology.
