A U.S. Army National Guard Soldier at the Kaniau Road checkpoint verifies information to grant access to the area affected by the Lahaina Wildfires on Sep. 26, 2023. Select residents were allowed into the area on supervised visits for the first time since wildfires ravaged the town nearly seven weeks ago.

In support of Maui County authorities, JTF-50, composed of the Hawaii Army and Air National Guard, U.S. Army Active Duty, U.S. Army Reserve, and U.S. Navy, is dedicated to the safety and recovery of affected Maui residents, coordinating with local first responders, and adhering strictly to local, state, and federal guidelines and laws.
