A group of military personnel in CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) protective gear including gas masks and tan MOPP suits are conducting what appears to be a decontamination training exercise in a wooded outdoor area. Soldiers are gathered around a collection of military equipment, helmets, and rucksacks laid out on blue tarps on the ground. Yellow boundary lines and a safety officer in an orange vest are visible, indicating a structured training lane or exercise area.

During a training exercise, Troopers with Battery B, 3rd Battalion, 321st Field Artillery Regiment, XVIII Fires Brigade, help each other as they learn how to neutralize the chemicals from a simulated attack with mustard gas at an operational decontamination site near Simmons Lake, Dec. 11. 3-321 FAR incorporated the decontamination training into their culminating training event to prepare for the unit’s upcoming assignment as a quick reaction and rapid response force for the U.S. Army North Command in support of emergencies in the United States.
