U.S. Marine Corps Capt. Luke Boyd, the company commander for Charlie Company, 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, fires an M18 service pistol during a live-fire range at the division’s first company commander course at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, Aug. 22, 2023. The course, which will be held twice a year, is designed to better prepare incoming captains for company and battery command. Boyd is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
