U.S. Army 1st Lt. Jake Rauenhorst, platoon leader with the 718th Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company, 23rd Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade, observes a Republic of Korea Army soldier conducting Render Safe Procedure (RSP) on a fuse during Ulchi Freedom Shield 2023. The annual exercise is designed to strengthen the combined defense posture and alliance response capabilities based on scenarios that reflect diverse threats within the security environment. The rigorous training ensures the alliance is ready to defend the Republic of Korea and promote security and stability in Northeast Asia.
