U.S. Army Garrison Fort Hamilton garrison commander Col. Brian Jacobs and garrison command Sgt. Maj. Christopher Hill met with New York state Sen. Jessica Scarcella-Spanton, who represents the 23rd District covering parts of Staten Island, southern Brooklyn, and the garrison, on Friday, Aug. 11, 2023, in the garrison headquarters conference room. During the meeting, Scarcella-Spanton, chairwoman of the state Senate Committee on Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs, received an overview of the base from Jacobs and Hill. Scarcella-Spanton discussed working with the state to provide services and additional benefits to military and veteran communities at the U.S. Army Garrison Fort Hamilton, New York City’s only active-duty military installation.
