Boatswain’s Mate 2nd Class Cesar Alicea-Castaing directs a landing craft, air cushion -assigned to Assault Craft Unit (ACU) 5 into the well deck of amphibious transport dock USS Anchorage (LPD 23) during a Tiger Cruise, June 7, 2023, off the coast of California. A Tiger Cruise allows service members to acquaint their family members with their ship and shipboard duties, and is intended to foster a sense of pride in the Navy. The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, comprised of amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) and amphibious transport docks Anchorage and USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26), is underway conducting routine operations in the U.S. 3rd Fleet with the embarked 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit.
