Simulated enemy boats follow the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Mesa Verde (LPD 19) during a simulated strait transit part of Composite Training Unit Exercise (C2X), Atlantic Ocean, May 21, 2023. The strait transit simulated the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5), Harpers Ferry-class dock landing ship USS Carter Hall (LSD 50) and USS Mesa Verde coming into contact with, receiving and returning enemy fire from small boats while in formation. C2X is the last at-sea-period of the Pre-deployment Training Program for the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Rafael Brambila-Pelayo)
