A U.S. Marine Corps sergeant in dress blues uniform is shown in sharp focus during what appears to be a formal ceremony or parade. He is holding a flagstaff with a red and gold-fringed flag visible in the upper left. The background shows additional Marines and a crowd, rendered out of focus by shallow depth of field.

A Marine from 6th Communications Battalion, Marine Forces Reserve, marched in the annual New York Veterans Day parade, here, Nov. 11. The parade is hosted by the United War Veterans Council, Inc. on behalf of the City of New York. It is the oldest and largest of its kind in the nation. Since November 11, 1919, the parade has provided an opportunity for Americans and International visitors to honor those who have served in the nation's largest city.
