Dean, the battalion therapy dog, leans in for a good petting Feb. 16 from Capt. Phillip Rittermeyer, a Kansas City, Mo., native, who serves as the battalion chaplain with the 64th Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Multi-National Division - Baghdad, at Camp Taji. Rittermeyer adopted Dean, who is three years old, from a shelter shortly before the Striker Brigade deployed to Iraq in December.
